School to School Water Project

The School to School Water Project’s Mission is to teach children to be life-long givers by empowering them to make a difference by funding clean water wells at sister schools around the world.

Perspective

Give students a global perspective by introducing them to their peers from around the world who may have very different lives then them. Introduce students to The Global Water Crisis through interactive lessons and experiences.

Empowerment

Cultivate the next generation of givers by empowering them to raise money for their sister school.

Change

Students experience real change on both sides of the globe. Students see that their efforts do make a difference. Through photos and videos students discover the power of giving.

What is the School to School water project?

What is the School to School water project?

The School to School Water Project was started organically in 2017 by fifth grade students at James Monroe Elementary School.

The project’s primary mission is to bring service learning to the classroom by teaching Perspective through the lens of the Global Water Crisis, Empowerment through homegrown fundraising efforts, and initiating real Change for our sister schools around the world.

To date we have financed clean water wells at a school in Peru and Guatemala.

What is the Day of Change?

The Day of Change is a weekend where students brainstorm and execute their own fundraising ideas to make a difference for our sister school in New Delhi. Last year we had lemonade stands, bracelet sales, a swim-a-thon, a joke-a-thon, bake sales, and even an Odell Beckham Jr. one handed catch challenge for change. In one weekend my fifth graders raised $1,700. Imagine the possibilities if we all pitched in. This year’s Day of Change is March 20-22 to honor World Water Day!
